It’s Alive!

The bandsaw I recently added to the shop is up and cutting. Today, I received three timber wolf bandsaw blades. The largest resaw blade measures 1 1/4″ wide and is designed to run on a horizontal band mill. The size of the MM20 allows the use of nearly any bandsaw blade there is. After working with various blade tension settings I have managed to eliminate most of the vibration from the saw. The saw can handle stock up to 20″ in height.

With the stock fence, I got a 16″ wide pacific maple board from the bottom of my off-cut pile and sent it through. I was very impressed with the quality of the cut without the aid of a resaw fence of any kind. Not to mention the board was pretty funky with deep gouges which did not exactly register against the fence with any consistency.  These boards will make a pretty nice pair of cabinet door panels.

Once I get the outfeed table set up and the resaw fence put together, I will be resawing some wide walnut boards for an upcoming armoire. I am still on the hunt for walnut for the armoir. It will probably be a few weeks before I can get started.

With the recent delivery of a mesquite hall table I am on to the next project.

  1. The table looks great and fits nicely in that entry.
