Oiling Mesquite

Late last night I put some oil finish on the mesquite side table I have been working on. I made a quick video that shows the  first coat of Waterlox being applied to the freshly prepared surface. This particular board has an incredible figure and features most every characteristic you find in mesquite.

Waterlox finish being applied to velvet mesquite.

I will be finishing up a few one on one classes at my home shop over the next few days after which I will be moving on to some new furniture pieces. Most notably a massive black walnut armoire. It is going to be constructed to match a few pieces I have made over the past two years.

  4. I’m just catching up on my mail and watched this video (a month late!). I love your sense of humor Sam! The beauty of wood and the beauty of music – oh my! I have a big smile on my face as I go out to my shop this morning – thanks Sam.

  5. Sam,

Love the wood, love the music. You couldn’t say who the artist is, could you?
